Delivering value to the business

Our business support team is critical to our company's success and the delivery of our ambitions.  Our support functions consist of Marketing, HR, Finance, Company Secretariat, Operations and Administration, Information Services and Group Systems.

Each business support team delivers exceptional value to both internal and external clients through innovative solutions to business needs.  Some recent work our business support team has delivered in terms of Marketing is shown below.

How Marketing secured extensive press coverage for a key PA research survey.

  • The business need:  Secure high-profile media coverage for PA’s outsourcing research survey report, aiming for press coverage in the Financial Times.  The report faced competition for journalists’ attention with similar reports from competitors.

  • What we did:  Developed concept of an FT/PA outsourcing ‘panel’ of key experts, which would be made up of PA consultants, as well as representatives from the other typical players in an outsourcing deal:  lawyers, suppliers, and the buyers.

  • The results:  Over a period of four months, the survey report and this panel approach generated two articles in the Financial Times and five pieces on ft.com focusing on the discussion. Our approach also included a live Webinar hosted by PA experts, where we responded in real time to outsourcing questions, as well as an online surgery where FT readers could ask questions.

All our people, not only consultants, have the opportunity to become shareholders in PA, thus thinking and acting as owners of the firm, rather than just 'employees'. As a result, we have a highly motivated, delivery-focused, 'can do' business support team and we look to attract like-minded people who want to build a career at the leading-edge of the consulting industry.

There are six business support ranks, from AS1 to AS6.  The business support rank structure is fairly flat compared to many organisations, meaning that opportunities for personal growth and progression do not come simply in the form of promotion, but can also come from excelling in, enriching and/or enlarging your current role.

To progress in your PA career, you'll need to demonstrate a willingness and aptitude to undertake demanding tasks, roles and responsibilities. To help you grow, you will receive training, coaching and mentoring. As you develop your skills, experience and ability through the challenges offered to you, we will endeavour to offer you the opportunity to move into a new or expanded role and be recognised for outstanding performance through promotion to a 'Senior' status (ie AS2 Senior or AS3 Senior).
